The College of Engineering and Computer Studies recently began the implementation of the Qualifying Engineering Examination (QEE) for its Engineering students . Consistent with the goals of outcomes-based education, QEE aims at assessing the readiness of the incoming third year students to pursue their Engineering program. It also gives them an advanced experience of professional board examination since the questionnaires are similarly designed. To date, two examinations has been conducted. The first one was on April 12, 2011 with 94% passing rate, and the second one was on June 9, 2011 with 96% passing rate. Prior to the implementation of the QEE, Dr. Ramon C. Maniago, LPU's Executive Dean formed the QEE committee composed of eight (8) Engineering faculty members to work on the applicable policies and guidelines. The committee is also responsible for ensuring proper implementation of the QEE.

Before the start of the examinations, review classes on Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, the three courses that are included in the examination, were conducted by select Engineering faculty members. The review served as a refresher course intended to prepare the students for the examination.(Irin M. Malajito)
