OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the Qualifying Engineering Examination (QEE) is to assess at an
early stage if the students possess the intellectual skills needed in pursuing the desired
course in the field of engineering. Specifically, it aims to:
1. Encourage student’s mastery of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects;
2. Develop among students the value of hard work, discipline, and perseverance;
3. Encourage students to strive for excellence; and,
4. Strengthen the quality of engineering education in LPU Cavite.
GUIDELINES
*GPA refers to the General Percentage Average of the grades in three (3) subjects– Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics from first year to second year.

GUIDELINES
1. All incoming classified as third year students including transferees of Civil Engineering (CE), Computer Engineering (CpE), Electronics Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Industrial Engineering (IE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) and all other engineering program that may be offered by Lyceum of the Philippines University-Cavite Campus who have passed all the Mathematics, Physics, General Chemistry and English subjects as prescribed in their respective curriculum, must take and pass the qualifying examination before they could be allowed to enroll in any major or professional subjects.
2. The passing grade for the qualifying examination is 75%. However, students who failed in the examination but obtained a rating of 70% - 74% may be considered, and allowed to enroll in major or professional subjects provided that the student obtained the equivalent minimum *GPA corresponding to the
qualifying examination ratings.*GPA refers to the General Percentage Average of the grades in three (3) subjects– Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics from first year to second year.
QEE RATING MINIMUM GPA
74% - - - - - - - - - - 2.75

70% - - - - - - - - - - 2.25
3. Students who obtained a rating below 70% , which is equivalent to failing grade in QEE shall not be allowed to enroll in major or professional engineering course.
4. Coverage of the examinations are:
For Mathematics, it covers topics in the subjects:
Algebra, Advanced Algebra, Plane and Spherical Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry, Solid Mensuration, Differential Calculus and Integral Calculus.
For Chemistry and Physics, it covers topics in the subjects:
General Chemistry and Physics I and II.
5. Qualifying examination shall be given twice in an academic year, two (2) days after the date of the distribution of semestral grade. However, QEE may be given after the summer term upon the discretion of the Committee.
6. The qualifying examination shall be supervised by a committee composed of a Chairman and selected Engineering faculty members. The Chairman shall be the Dean of the College, while the members shall be appointed by the Dean for a one-year term.
7. Results of the examination shall be released by the Executive Dean’s Office and shall be posted at the College bulletin board.
